ZedReviews

Terms of use

Plain-language summary. Have a lawyer review this before launch.

For businesses

  • Only ask people who actually bought from you or used your service.
  • Don't pay, reward or pressure anyone for a good review, and don't write reviews of your own business or let your staff, family or friends do it. You may offer the same small thank-you to every customer who leaves a review, whatever stars they give, as long as you say so and the review stays honest.
  • If we find a business faked, bought or rewarded good reviews, we remove those reviews and show a consumer alert on its page for 90 days. Doing it again may get the business removed from ZedReviews.
  • You may reply to any review. You may hide a review only if it contains insults or hate speech, spam, someone's private details, or isn't about your business. We may restore reviews hidden for other reasons.
  • Pro is paid in advance for 1, 3 or 12 months and does not renew automatically. Payments are not refundable once the period has started, unless the law requires it.

For reviewers

  • Write about your own, real experience. Be honest; you can be critical, but don't insult anyone.
  • We show your first name, the first letter of your surname and your town if you give it. Your phone number is never shown publicly.
  • Tell the truth about rewards. If a business gave you something for your review, don't hide it, and never write a review in exchange for payment.
  • To keep reviews genuine, we keep an anonymous id for the phone you review from and may check a review before it shows. We never show it or share it with businesses.

What nobody may post

These break the law of Zambia (including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, the cyber security and cyber crimes laws, and the Competition and Consumer Protection Act) and are not allowed in reviews, questions, answers or suggestions:

  • False statements of fact made to damage a business or a person's reputation (defamation).
  • Threats, harassment or abuse aimed at a business owner, a member of staff or anyone else, including obscene language and sharing someone's private life.
  • Fake reviews: good reviews a business bought or wrote about itself, and bad reviews written by competitors or by anyone who was never a customer.
  • Other people's private details, such as phone numbers, NRC numbers or addresses. To protect privacy, phone and NRC numbers in reviews are hidden automatically.

Honest opinions about a real experience are allowed, even when they're harsh.

We host what others write

Reviews, questions and answers are written by the people who post them, and they are responsible for what they write. ZedReviews doesn't write, edit or choose them. When we learn, through a formal complaint or a court order, that a post may be unlawful, we act quickly as described in complaints about reviews: the post is paused, the person who wrote it can stand by it with evidence, and if they don't, it's removed. A false complaint can be passed to the authorities.

Records and the law

We keep the internet address and time of each post, encrypted, for a limited time (see our privacy policy), and give them only when a Zambian court orders us to.

For everyone

We may remove content that breaks these rules or the law of Zambia, and close accounts that abuse the service.
